Course Offerings
Week 1: MAPS Summer Launch + Intro to MAPS
MAPS is teaming up with the Harlem Public Library for a community Block Party on Thursday, May 22—complete with music, food, and a bike raffle where we’ll give away 10 bikes to local youth! On Friday, join us for Intro to MAPS workshop, plus a bike safety course for the raffle winners. It’s the perfect way to start summer—come celebrate with us!
Week 2: Intro to Film
Get hands-on with cameras, sound equipment, and storytelling in this beginner-friendly film workshop. Students will learn how to plan, film, and edit their own short videos using professional tools. No experience needed—just curiosity and creativity!
Week 3: NAEDC Summer Camp @ Beaver Creek Featuring a MAPS Workshop
MAPS joins NEADC at Beaver Creek for four days of culture, creativity, and connection! This camp blends traditional games, hands-on art, geocaching, and more. Open to youth ages 12–18, this is a free camp with meals and transportation provided by TIWAHE.
*Separate NAEDC registration needed.
Week 4: Geospatial Camp
Explore how technology and storytelling come together through digital maps! Students will use GPS tools, aerial imagery, and ArcGIS software to create personal and community-based maps. Open to students entering 9th or 10th grade—no tech experience needed, and lunch is provided daily.
Week 5: Mural
Help bring the front of the MAPS building to life! This collaborative mural workshop invites students to help paint a large-scale public artwork. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to work together, get creative, and get a little messy. All materials provided.
Week 6: Beat Making – Create, layer, mix, drop beats
Dive into the world of digital music production in this fast-paced, two-day camp. Students will use iPads and beat-making software to create, mix, and layer original tracks. Whether you’re a beginner or already making music, this is a fun and collaborative way to build your sound.
